On February 22, 2025, FME Travel was honored to once again partner with RMIT University for an immersive exploration of the Mekong Delta, focusing on Hau Giang and Can Tho. This journey brought together over 30 students and professors, offering them a firsthand experience of the region’s rich culture, history, and natural beauty.

More than just a sightseeing tour, this program was carefully designed to combine interactive learning with authentic cultural engagement, fostering deeper connections between participants and the local communities. The tour itinerary featured a mix of cultural, historical, and ecological highlights, allowing students to witness the diverse landscapes and lifestyles of the Mekong Delta.

Cai Rang Floating Market – The Pulse of Mekong’s River Trade

At dawn, students boarded boats and navigated through the bustling waters of Cai Rang Floating Market, one of the largest and most famous floating markets in Vietnam. They observed how local traders conduct business directly on their boats, enjoyed a freshly prepared bowl of hủ tiếu (Vietnamese noodle soup), and gained insights into the region’s unique economic ecosystem.

Traditional Rice Noodle Workshop – A Taste of Local Craftsmanship

Students visited a family-run rice noodle workshop, where they witnessed the step-by-step process of transforming rice into delicate noodle strands. Under the guidance of skilled artisans, they even had the chance to try making noodles themselves, deepening their appreciation for the craftsmanship behind this Vietnamese staple.

Lung Ngoc Hoang Nature Reserve – A Hidden Ecological Gem

A tranquil boat ride through the lush wetlands of Lung Ngoc Hoang offered students a glimpse into one of the Mekong Delta’s most biodiverse ecosystems. Surrounded by towering cajuput trees and a chorus of bird calls, they explored the delicate balance of nature in this protected wildlife sanctuary. This experience not only provided a sense of adventure but also raised awareness about environmental conservation efforts in Vietnam.
