We will pick up guests for the journey to Dong Thap. FME’s tour guide will provide information throughout the 100-kilometer-long journey.
After more than 1.5 hours on the road, you set foot on the land of Dinh Yen in Lap Vo district to explore Dinh Yen mat-weaving village. Here, you witness the busy scene of weaving mats to fulfill orders for the upcoming Vietnamese New Year. With a commitment to honoring traditional values, FME has chosen local residents as partners, allowing you to witness step by step of the mat-making process, from manual to industrial process. You’ll also hear the stories of those who keep the fire of making mat-weaving for generations in this community.
Concluding the activities at Dinh Yen, the van will take you to visit the Lai Vung Red Mandarin orchard, where you’ll have the opportunity to taste the mandarins while listening to the story of the locals rooted in these citrus trees. You’ll learn about the cultivation process and care required to yield the trademark Lai Vung red mandarins – a significant agricultural achievement of Dong Thap province.
You then will have lunch at the orchard, enjoying delicious specialties exclusive to Lai Vung, prepared by FME.
The first destination along the Sa Dec riverbank is Kien An assembly hall, a temple dedicated to Guang Ze Zun Wang (Ong Quach)—one of the guardian deities for the Hoa people of Fu Jian descent. This temple is constructed based on the architectural style commonly found in Fu Jian province, China, featuring the distinctive Swallowtail roof. The local Hoa community believes that favorable business endeavors are due to the protection of ‘Ong Quach’.
You will spend the remaining time exploring the most outstanding attractions of the Sa Dec flower and ornamental plant village – a renowned village for flower and ornamental plant cultivation along the Mekong River since the 19th century. Here, there are over 2,000 varieties of flowers, bonsai, and seedlings catering to decorative needs both domestically and internationally.
Passing through Lai Vung district, our tour will stop at the rest area called Ut Thang. Here, guests can take a break and try the renowned specialty of Lai Vung – Nem Lai Vung (fermented pork).
Noted: The time can be flexible depending on the weather or your requirements.
