June

Lunar New Year (Vietnamese: Tết Nguyên Đán)

Tet usually takes place from December 28 to January 3 (Lunar Calendar), it usually falls in late January and early February. 

A trip to the Mekong Delta before Tet on 25-29th December (in the lunar calendar) is already perfect for those who want to know how this region prepares for Tet.  At That time you will get lost in the colorful streets. Stuff and decorations are decorated colorfully on many streets to get a New Year theme. 

But please check all your booking if you travel on the Tet holiday (1st to 4th January Lunar Calendar). In our experience, It is not a good time to visit Can Tho during tet as people have spent most of their time working the whole year. Therefore, Tet is a period of time when people want to spend their time with families, friends, and relatives. Many restaurants and coffee shops are closed for around 5-7 days during Tet.

Fruits season in Can Tho

Rambutan season

When coming to Can Tho in June and July, you will see gardens covered in bright red rambutans. The fruits are full of branches and very eye-pleasing.

Durian season

At the end of May, durian begins to ripe and in July and August are the ripest time. The best durian that you must taste in this season is Cai Mon durian. Despite the fact that this fruit is hard to swallow, if you can stand the smell once you will get addicted.

Lai Vung tangerine season

The land of Lai Vung in Dong Thap is the homeland of red tangerine. The days near Tet are the time that tangerines start to ripe all over the gardens. This kind of fruit is indispensable on the Tet holiday for all the Mekong Delta people.

Star apple season

Star apple is the fruit that Westerners are proud to introduce to visitors coming to this land. If you want to enjoy this fruit, come in late March and early April every year.

Hoa Loc mango season

This kind of mango is available all year round. There are 2 seasons of ripe mangoes: from April to May and from December to January. Visitors often flock to mango orchards in Hoa Loc to enjoy this specialty.
